All native wildlife in Australia is protected -- cute cuddly and deadly poisonous animals equally. Lizards, spiders and insects found in a home are often caught and released outside in the garden rather than killed (especially the huge huntsman spiders we get here which are harmless to humans). I'll even catch and release cockroaches rather than kill them.

Yes, but they're not native to Western Australia. They were introduced by accident in the 1960s.

They were also accidentally introduced to New Zealand in the 1990s by some idiot in North Shore who released large numbers of captive ones.
