While I believe it's good that we call it out, there will always be enough people willing to do evil for money. It'll have to be shut down from the outside and that's where our focus should be.
We do see it in other countries. But even if we didn’t see it, it could still be that the situation in the states was at such a precarious position that COVID tipped it there (more) than in other places, making it more visible. Also other places such as Europe in general have bigger safety nets so the fallout of the damage is less.
>You do. I don't live in the USA and things are worse since lockdown.
Yep, this. It's been worse everywhere since then. I didn't know how much I'd be missing the days of 2014-2018 right about now. If only I knew how good we had it.
>Don't believe the propaganda that Nordic people are happiest.
When you have the highest rates of suicides, coffee, alcohol and antidepressant usage, you're only left with the happy people ;)
Those happiness studies are more about cultural norms of communication and how questions about emotions translate into various local languages. They have little to do with happiness itself and say more about how cultures shape languages.
These guys know that you can't accuse trump. He'll consider it disloyal and ignore you at best. By praising Trump he's hoping that Trump will step in and "fix" it, which will likely involve Sun getting a cut somehow.
* focus locally; getting invoked with local politics by supporting local candidates with your time and effort - the state department runs programs to talk to city and state officials concerning foreign policy matters and city’s and local governments can create pressure on federal representatives from those states.
* vote with your wallet; boycotts and divestments are tools ordinary people have to effect conglomerates. Ensure your retirement money is not invested with companies engaging with the political ideas you do not agree with
* protest; attending in person events shows leaders numbers and images that are harder to ignore than their consultants’ polling data.
I've done all of those and while I think they are important i believe it's most important to let politicians know, otherwise they rely too much on money.
Pointing that whatever people think they are doing is not working does not mean we have to propose a solution. I'd suggest revolution, but that won't ever happen in the US.
Agreed. I've been to zion many times and the rangers have never been anything but helpful. A while back a ranger recommended a hike with few people and now I do it every visit.
It is crowded, which is a bummer, but still a great experience.
I'm all in favor of the impeachment but I worry that it makes it more likely that he wants to nuke Iran. If he's going down he'll take everyone with him. Hopefully the people around him are enough afraid of Nuremberg 2 that they stop him.
