I keep reading about this, but I have never, ever seen it. Daily Claude Max user for ~6 months. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s never once happened to me.

A really big unknown in all of these anecdotes is what skills people have installed (and what's in their CLAUDE.md, and ...)

I mean, the really good ones can be beautiful, terrifying, balletic displays of dominance, skill and tactical intelligence. There’s nothing in all of gaming quite like being hunted by a human being. It’s a real thrill.

Yeah, though I would argue that we as a society would be way better off if the same scrutiny that was applied a few years ago due to the "woke panic" were applied to modern day content about pro- you-name-it propaganda (military, othering, etc.).

Nowadays, you see that in the masterful omission of facts when news are reported (e.g. why aren't illegal trade embargoes mentioned when talking about poverty and instability in certain countries? Why are there no reactions when the thing they were confidently showing turned out to be false or GenAI?), or the way things are portrayed in videogames (why are enemies in military shooters almost always middle eastern? why don't you have to fight off racists, fascists, and corporate militia?), or the movies (why do we get shown mostly content where a single individual carries the sole responsibility of taking on the single villain?).

Sorry for the rant; games are indeed beautiful... There's some things I've been starting to pay attention to where you have to swallow or brush aside some propaganda so that you're allowed to play with your friends... And that makes me a bit upset.

The multiplayer stuff with kernel level anti-cheat - it’s mostly the kind of thing that’s also on console. I bought a PS5 for that and called it a day.

Desktop rig runs Bazzite and I’ve a Steam Deck. They play most everything in my Steam library with Proton (ymmv, of course). One of the last ones that didn’t work was Assetto Corsa - some kind soul here on hn helped me get it working recently.

I used to dual-boot Win 10 with Bazzite (separate drives), but finally ditched Windows 6 months ago. It can be done; a lot’s changed in the past couple of years.

Great post. Love uv, love Astral. Pretty concerned about the OpenAI acquisition.

At least UV is still open source, it would suck to have to fork and foe there to be yet another python package management tool(what is this JS?), but we can do it.

Did you guys look at Firecracker-based options such as E2B and Fly.io? We’ve had positive early results on latency, but yeah … too early to tell where we end up on cost.

Yea we did and actually use Daytona for another product, but it would have been too slow here.

Yeah, some of the uplift people are anecdotally seeing from “just using the filesystem” is, imo, on account of how difficult it is to take a principled approach to pre-chunking when implementing other approaches.

Absolutely, agentic search is much more robust to the specific implementation details of your search setup (data quality issues, too) than the early one-shot approaches were. Anyone watching Claude Code work can see this for themselves.

Certainly a lot of blog posts followed. Not sure that “everyone” was so blinkered.

Sadly, the original Assetto Corsa is also borked on Linux (AC Evo and AC Rally, on the other hand, run great).

AC works fine just requires a little extra setup, either use this script[0] or use the latest GE-Proton (with a fresh prefix), I recently updated protonfixes to fix a CM/CSP issue. The latter is better as newer Proton has some definite performance improvements.

That’s excellent, thanks for the heads up! By chance, RPS covered the Mulholland Drive mod recently and I’m keen to try it on Bazzite.

I would definitely prefer to go the GE-Proton route. To clarify, what do you mean by “fresh”? Just the most recent release or something more specific?

Fresh should mean creating a new prefix. For example, Proton-GE enabled wow64 in Wine by default, but it requires recreating the prefix to use it. Should be easy enough with Protontricks or even Winetricks.

Yes very much this. It is possible to modify an existing prefix but there are quite a few things to do, it's easier to back up savegames and game config files and then create it anew.

Thank you very much to both of you. Got it running flawlessly with CM on Steam Deck OLED at 90fps using GE-Proton10.34 and LSFG-VK for frame-gen. This one goes straight to the top (alongside DR2.0 and AC Rally) as favourite gaming on the go.

Nice, glad to hear it.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, it does run, even with quite comparable performance, but getting a wheel to interact with the game has been a bit challenging. But this could be resolved with a custom driver for my specific hardware. Using the community standard mod manager seems to resolve the UI jank by completely bypassing it.

What is your specific wheel hardware? It should simply be a case of binding the wheel axis in Content Manager’s controller options.

Hop on either matrix or discord listed at https://simracingonlinux.com and one of us will be happy to help you work through the issue.

yeah, I've heard this too.. and I'd rather my rig just works rather than try and stuff around making it work under linux + I know iracing is cooked anyway, and I've spent enough money on the rig to just want it to work, and not get stuffed over by some anti-cheat, maybe soon

Me too. My weapon of choice is the Dualsense. Lots of great things about it in addition to gyro controls: as of late last year you can pair 4 devices with it. I have one Dualsense and roam between PS5, Bazzite desktop and Steam Deck seamlessly.
